Ending 2009 with a BABY!

Well I can now say that 2009 was the best year of my life! After going back and forth to the hospital 5 times Kenny and I decided Jack was ready to come meet us. We spoke with the doctor the week of New Years after the last hospital visit. The doctor agreed that Jack was ready and scheduled an induction. We were to be at the hospital at 10 PM on Dec. 30th. We spent that day putting up Christmas decorations and getting all last minute things done. We were totally ready and packed to go by 8 PM that night.

At 8:30 we got a call from the hospital, they were too busy and could not take me. I was devastated. That was the worst phone call. Kenny and I just sat in the living room, trying to pretend to watch TV and not be totally heartbroken. THEN an hour later the hospital called back. They had looked at my charts, saw all the complications I have had and made some room! I was going in right on schedule! I was so happy I cried!

We went in and everything went pretty smoothly. I had a nurse who had treated me in there before. She actually requested me when she heard my name (kind of sad that the nurses knew me that well!). It was nice to have a familiar face and someone I felt comfortable with. Kenny and I had lots of questions! They slowly started inducing that night, and it was a LONG night. Probably more for Kenny then for me!

At 6 AM on the 31st full on induction started. I was ready to go by 10 AM! (I told you we KNEW Jack was ready!!!) I had fallen asleep so they actually had to wake me up to start pushing! After about 30 minutes of painless labor, Jack Kenneth Freeman was born at 10:58 AM. He weighed 5lbs 15oz and was 19 inches long. He didn't even cry until they started cleaning him! Then the most amazing thing happened, Jack was screaming his head off and Kenny walked over to him and said "Hey little Buddy" and he stopped crying and just looked at his daddy. AMAZING.

At midnight I was feeding Jack while Kenny and I watched all the fireworks from our hospital window. We actually had the best view of Katy and could see TONS of fireworks. It was a moment I will remember for the rest of my life.

Jack is home now and doing really well. Knock on wood, but he is a very easy baby so far. We are breastfeeding and loving it. He sleeps A LOT during the day and wakes up at night to play with mommy and daddy. We are so tired but we love every minute of it. When he is awake he stares right at whoever is talking. And he loves to furrow his brow and raise his eyebrow just like mommy does. He definitely has his own personality already and you can see some of it in his pictures.

We are feeling so blessed right now with our new little family. There are some pictures above but he changes every day. It's crazy! He looks so different from the day he was born already! AND he just keeps getting cuter and cuter!

Before all the excitement started we had a wonderful Christmas, I was having major contractions the entire time but it was nice. Kenny had an exciting ending to his year at work when he was named "Property Manager of the Year". Of course we were in the hospital when they announced that at his company Holiday Party! I stayed pretty low this last month (actually the days all ran together) trying to keep Jack baking.

So, that was our 2009 ending! I hope everyone else had a great Holiday and The Freeman Family wishes you a wonderful New Year!
